I was attracted to a creased sheet of sugar paper, discounted by others in the drawing class as no longer useful. The natural reaction when throwing away paper is to crumple it into a ball. This ‘ball’ or ‘spheroid’ became a fascinating sculpture with multiple surfaces , textures and tones – something worthy of attention. I repeated the experiment with two other sheets of used paper and then with a piece of fabric woven with found threads and bare iron wire.
The challenge is to know when to stop ‘crumpling’!
Hi Val
These look like a good step. Is the base a plastic?
I’m still using my found material woven with iron wire.
