I am working in my sketchbook playing with ideas and themes, I don’t know where it will lead but it’s fun finding out!
This my Birdsong sampler using patterns of birdsong; I am trying to stitch it entirely with naturally dyed threads. A few weeks ago I experimented with solar dyeing, some more successful than others. The work for our new exhibition ‘MEND’ showing at Coventry Cathdral is opening on 12 th April and is all ready. Time to take time out and be inspired by the lovely views on a snowy morning on the South Downs.

This is the beginning of some new work using fabrics and thread which were dyed last summer using natural dyes. The fabrics are fine wool, woollen blanket and silk on a backing of nettle dyed tablecloth. The stitching is fine wool dyed with red cabbage.
