Monika Brueckner

Growing up in a textile surrounding, my love of the character of fabrics and their ability to store memory is deeply grounded in my body and soul.

To bring my personal themes time, archiving, remembrance and its influence to social and cultural thinking, by stitching, printing, photo and video into, onto and within fabric is an inner necessity.  The use of perennial personal symbols conveys and underlines my topics.

The slow motion and time intensive work of hand stitching opens my mind for reflecting, meditation and the discovery of new aspects and understanding.  In addition the research and reading provides a wider view for the processed theme.
